The Heads of State participating in the Second Summit of the South American Community of Nations held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, on the 8th and 9th of December of 2006, recognize the importance of the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples of United Nations, adopted unanimously in the First Session of the Human Rights Commission in Geneva in June of this year.

The Heads of State recall that the Declaration is an important proposal that recognizes the rights of Indigenous Peoples, and their important contribution in the construction of contemporary societies of the region.

Thus, they call on the all States to support the necessary actions such that the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is adopted during sessions of the UN General Assembly.
