II SOCIAL FORUM ON SEXUAL DIVERSITY
at the V WSF
Porto Alegre, 26 - 31 January 2005

At the fifth edition of the World Social Forum the Second Social Forum on Sexual Diversity is held, which proposes to expand the arena of analysis and give more potential to critical thought, especially on issues related with neoliberal globalisation and its interrelation with sexual orientation based exclusions, sexism, racism, classism and other forms of discrimination.

The II Social Forum for Sexual Diversity is an excellent opportunity to contribute with ideas that question the heterocentric, androcentric, racist single thinking, and support diverse practices, that are part of the multicoloured foundation of an egalitarian world.

It also proposed to locate within the debates of social movements the importance of recognizing, in discourse and practice, sexual diversity as a key component for the achievement of the equality, and based on that, continue deepening the development of alternatives and proposals for social justice.

Sexual diversity is directly related to the building of “another world possible”, proposed by the World Social Forum, which has to do with the development and implementation of inclusive, pluralistic approaches, that will enable all persons and collective groups to express and enjoy their rights and full citizenship.

The II Social Forum for Sexual Diversity will have a permanent space at the V World Social Forum (D 202), open to meetings and exchanges among organizations that propose them. Also taking place in this space are cultural activities (music, video, poetry, photographic exhibitions and book launches) and conversations with leaders and activities.
